The Tropical Medicine Research Institute (TMRI) was established more than 65 years ago
(more information here). Since then the institute has
been a leader in tropical medicine research in the region and has been selected by the WHO
as one of its international research centers. Conclusions and recommendations from the
institute's applied clinical research in the field of endemic diseases are regularly
supplied to the Egyptian Ministry of Health & Population for implementation on the
national level.
In the past few years, the institute has expanded its research focus to cover other
medical fields including: liver diseases, GI diseases, pediatrics, dermatology, surgery,
epidemiology and insect transmitted diseases.
Additionally, TMRI serves as a specialized medical center for tropical diseases. It is
well equipped to accommodate a wide variety of medical conditions through the outpatient
and inpatient departments.
Most medical services provided by the institute are free of charge for the general public.
Some services are provided through the outpatient department at an economy class fee.
Patients coming to the institute are usually those suffering from acute and chronic
endemic diseases patients with allergies.
